While I was out today I thought about how the warning marks for the nuclear disposal sites in the future. The current proposal is lacking in many ways.
First, it depends upon written language on markers in order to warn future explorers. On the other hand, symbolism has been hard to come by that properly describes what may lie underneath.
Here's a possible solution. Still have buried markers but have them entirely as symbols. The markers would all have the same layout of a multi-tiered triangle. Each marker would have the current tier highlighted. Each marker would also contain a small amount of radioactive material. The next marker in the series would contain more radioactive material than the previous marker.
We can easily assume one thing about future civilizations. First, they will have the ability to sense that the materials are radioactive since the markers will be buried deeply and eventually the markers shall start causing health issues (remember, it's about protecting society as a whole).
Second, since we use basic symbology of a triangle it's easy to understand and the increasing amount of radioactive material is easy to corelate to the biggest segment on the triangle.
Problem solved, init?

I just got a Speedlite 430 EX flash for my Rebel XT and I am quite impressed. I was getting 3 fps on it in a dark room. I'm using manual apeture and shutter speeds and ever picture is coming out perfectly with excellent colour balance.
I highly recommend this affordable flash for all ya'll.

Yes, he's funny but his monologue is going a bit too long...this is bothering me...he's funny...but I want SNL not the Dane Cook show. Hopefully the length is part of the monologue. Like people saying..."Dude, this is going up too long."

Just finished up a party at my place with a few people from work. We played 360 games from 1900 till 2200 and then watched Kenny vs Spenny from 2200 till around midnight. Then from midnight till 0300 we played more 360 games.
Saying 360 games is a bit if a stretch since what we really did was play Joust, SmashTV, and Gauntlet the entire time. Only an hour of the 6 hours playing 360 games was playing actual 360 games.
What does that tell you? The old games with their 8 bit graphics are still better.

Just thought I'd throw this out there for ya'll as it's bothered me for a while.
You know how you get spam and don't like it? Know how spam has those links at the bottom that say "Remove From List" and more often than not clicking on those links just lets the spammers know that you actually read the mail inundating you with piles more? Know how you no longer click on that little little link? Know how you think it's safe now? Know how some spam emails have images in them? Know how those images can load from a server? Know how those images probably send a request along with them informing the spammer of your email address?
Yeah...just opening a piece of spam is likely to expose you to even more spam. If at all possible turn off automatic image loading by default. It's not too much to ask you to click on a button to show images from unknown email addresses, init?

Compiling a new kernel...I remember this one time a few years back when I compiled a kernel over the period of several days on a 486...good times.
Now it happens in a few hours...sigh.

They are marketing these cell phones that play mp3s towards people who walk around (cause in your car you don't use headphones).
Thing is that the phones are really expensive so people who walk normally can't afford such phones. People who can afford them, drive.

Last night Eric and Danielle had a pickled beet eating contest. It was filmed. It will be on the DVD. There was much enjoyment on all parts.
Kudos to Eric and Danielle on really kicking ass (although the beets will soon be kicking their ass).
More on the DVD later.

I've started using the phrase "more on" more in my speech just so I can discreetly call somebody a moron.

So Kyle, Karin, Eric, Eric, Alyssa, Mavis, and Britt were over to watch Family Guy and Kenny vs Spenny.
Due to scheduling conflicts (for which FOX will pay dearly) we didn't get to watch all of Kenny vs Spenny (aka Lenny vs Spenny according to Eric). I had however talked up the whole episode and how it was one of Kenny's favorites and so forth.
Let me tell you, the practical joke that Kenny pulled is by far one of the best in recent memory. I am inspired to grow up to be a Kenny...now if only I could make mediocre quality movies and get shot down by the Hollywood bigwigs (and little wigs...although that's probably Spenny's fault).
Once again, I was on Kenny's side and had to face the wrath of pity exuding from the other watches for Spenny.
Anyways, let's look forward to next week!
